Good Health: Organic Food

October 2011, repost

Folklore would not be complete without its many traditional, and oftentimes herbal medications, remedies,
and healing methods. In fact, different countries have methods and treatments that are unique. The healing power of herbs – whether culled from the people of yore or learned in a 21st century lab – has effects that cannot be denied.

Among the world’s earliest civilizations, food and medicine were inextricably linked, and many plants were eaten for their health-giving properties. For example, armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids survived on a meal which included a daily ration of garlic in order to ward off pestilence and fever.

Consider too, the dark age of Europe, into the medieval period, when herbs were painstakingly grown in monasteries. Each monastery had its own “Physics” garden, abounding in herbs that were used to treat the ailments of both the monks and the local folks who dwelled in the surrounding areas.

From indigenous local fruits and vegetables that are organically grown come combination of extracts for healing, stamina, and as body supplements. The mode of extraction follows a traditional method, like the fruit fermentation process, among others.

I. For treatment requiring the use of plants, take the following guides

1.Use only one plant medicine at a time. 2. Use only stainless or earthen cooking utensils (Aluminum reacts chemically with medicinal elements in plants. 3.Don’t cover cooking utensil when boiling (to release toxins). 4.Take decoction either hot or cold. Strain before taking it. 5. Wash thoroughly leaves, barks, flowers, roots. 6. Individual with allergic reactions to with some plants are not encouraged to use herbal medications.

II. Herbal medication for constipation

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Have a regular time to sit down on the toilet bowl. Have a regular exercise. Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits.

Papaya/Carica Papaya (ripe fruit). Eat one big slice every morning for breakfast.

Yellow Bell. Boil 5 leaves in 2 glasses of water for 10 minutes. Drink at least 2 glasses a day.

Malunggay leaves/Horse Radish tree. Eat one cup boiled leaves with meals.

Take this caution: Remember that healing wonders of herbs are not substitutes for the doctor’s prescription. Consult a doctor if necessary.

III. Check out samples of healing herbs

What to do if you had to write a bad restaurant review?

Say "It is not okay!"

Usually food writers promote healthful products and restaurants that serve heavenly, delicious, and extraordinary food.

Most writers are fond of food.

"You have to say the truth. You always have to tell the truth so the restaurant could improve," food experts assent. "Taste buds have different preferences, plus your visit is also due good service and a clean kitchen."

Here are some tips for a restaurant review:

Restaurant reviews have no exact form.

It states restaurant features, name, location (map/how to get there), food price, meal discounts, estimated costs per person, and the various menu.

Appetizers, desserts, beverages, and dishes are enumerated. These will please customers and inform the public.

Restaurant ambiance is also discussed. Is it fine dining? Is it buffet style? Is it a fast food setting? Pictures and posters are distributed for the presentation of food.

An overview of the restaurant's food specialty is given a highlight with commendations from various people for specific consumers and food lovers.

Restaurant reviews also include a commentary (positive or negative), an essay of appreciation, or a culinary climax in any form.

Sometimes a simple recipe of the menu and its ingredients are given away. Health benefits derived from the food are analyzed and shown by nutritionists.

Here is an experience:

During my first restaurant review of a Japanese Restaurant (Thanks to Cook Magazine); I was really ashamed because I didn't know how to use the chopsticks. All the press people were using the chopsticks, and I was the only one who asked for a spoon and a fork. But it was cool because I have learned to manage and asked for a fork. From then on, I always used the chopsticks.

I thank Cook Magazine for this. "The restaurant was exquisitely marvelous and sushi was fresh. Everyone loved the menu and it came one at a time served by waiters."

The personal reactions to both the food and restaurant are important to consumers. Consumers update with food in popular culture.

Overtones of sad and happy experiences give authenticity to restaurant reviews. Detailed analyses of specific outstanding dishes - good and dismal are helpful for everyone since food is part of life and culture.

Some people find something happy and unhappy with food and start having a good time.

Indeed, saying "It is not okay!" is okay for food and restaurant reviews.

Strictly, Clean and Good Food

September 20, 2011

Thoughts to Ponder  On:

I Shall Eat and Cook

1.

We've all been to some eating sprees and junctions.  In any form, it is a fact that good food must be clean and handled with care.

2.

Of course, for students, young professionals, and everyone - I prefer McDonald and Jollibee for its yummy taste, affordable price, cleanliness, and trained staff.

3.

Lately, I had encountered bad-baked bread, rancid butter taste, a side dish of smelly corn and carrots, and a thread from a thick pizza slice.  These similar instances must be reported to the management so the food company and staff will make sure of the good quality and freshness of every food they will serve the public.

These are paid restaurants.  FYI:  Don't forget to serve clean and fresh food for the public.

How about the staff?  Are they paid justly?

True Colors of the Earth

True Colors of the Earth

Solemnity of sky all day
Night clouds of pink and lace of stars
One love you give, and so I pray
Gold promises and holy hours.
Fresh garden flowers, breath of dew
Bright silvery moon, white host for you.

Green cabbage fields, brown boots in mud
Orange carrots, shaped pumpkins’ feast
Bright tray of harvest, all from God
Herb cream, purple cakes, earth's best.--
For you my love, an ivory shell,
Red diamond ring, a towering bell.

Our hopes beside the lake so true
Blinking ripples, gleam as your eyes --
What joy to hearts, love hails your crew
Your heart, one love to God suffice.
Rainbow teas, the lake’s a cup
Sweet nectar rolled in waves you wrap.

True colors of the earth abound
Notes heaven sing: white nights --
Mint trees and grapes in vine, on ground
Earth paints a blast, God’s lips delight.
Cotton clouds, rain candies, now
Thy Kingdom come, pure love a vow.

And Jelly Beans For All

See the clouds

Unlock the door of eyelids

Go down below, deep yearnings

Life is a kiss

All joy of eternal slumber,

When throbs cease,

When breath ends,

When all that's yours and not yours

Freeze into time

Immortality, you and me

When GOD sings

When angels dance

When rainbows rain jelly beans

Smiles and Saints, glory, glory!

Sit on GOD's lap,

Be forever merry -

And jelly beans for all.
